comfy cozy

This is one of my favorite lazy day outfits. A comfy sweater with stretchy jeans and flats is as casual as I get. I love this sweater because it doesn't make me feel as bulky as some sweaters do, and it's also super sparkly! The only downside of it is that it's very delicate so if something gets caught ... it can be a mess!

one skirt, three looks

When I go shopping, I try to look for staple pieces. The more staple pieces you have, the more you can change it up and create different styles with it. Don't get me wrong, finding unique pieces are just as great, but you can't get as much wear with them! Skirts are great because they're so easy to transition from season to season. (I actually wore this skirt in a previous post!) All you have to do is find some warm tights (double layer if you're on the East) and boots, and you can wear your summer skirt in winter! Just throw on a peacoat and you're out the door and ready for the cold. (Side note: can we just both agree that my smile is super goofy in this picture? Okay moving on...) Read more for details on each outfit!

grandma chic

I want to start off by saying that with the new year (I know I'm a tad late on saying this...), I'm aiming to have at least one post every week. I intend on sticking with this for the whole year so I hope I don't disappoint! But back to this outfit ... I have a tendency to gravitate towards pieces that are a bit outdated in style but I absolutely love them. This thick cardigan I'm wearing actually reminds me of something a grandma (with no offense to any woman, any age) would wear, but I love the classic look of this white and black color palette accented with gold buttons. I paired this with jeans to make this outfit more casual, and chose to wear my matching cap-toed flats. As for accessories, I added a gold mustache necklace as an attempt to make this look less ... for a lack of better words, uptight. ;)

sweater weather

Sweater dresses are one of the most comfortable outfits to wear in the winter ... which is why I have tons of them! I tend to cinch sweater dresses with belts because I like defining my waist, so I decided to opt for the skinny leopard belt for this one. Also, sweater dresses are perfect for the winter time ... you can pair with stockings or leggings (or both if you're on the east coast!), add a black peacoat, and voilĂ ! You're ready for the cold weather!

new year's sparkle

Happy New Year! This year, I wanted to wear something sparkly and not black, since I always opt for that color. I actually went on a quick shopping mission with my sister to find a New Year's dress two days ago, and this was the only one that fit, looked cute, and matched my nude heels (the only heels I brought home). However, it was a little out of my price range ... but I decided to sacrifice a little money for a dress that I know I can wear to several events.

holiday spirit

First of all, happy holidays everyone! I hope you all are enjoying the time off from school or work because we all deserve to rest and relax. As for this outfit, I chose to wear this for my family's Christmas Eve dinner because I wanted to wear something comfy but with holiday spirit (that would be me incorporating the red into the outfit)! This outfit incorporates some of the major trends this winter has deemed popular: the color ox-blood, leather, and leopard print.

bloopers

It's that time of the year ... finals season! As I procrastinate writing my papers and studying for my exams, I bring you some fun moments during our blog shoots.

While I do take this blog seriously, I have a lot of fun sharing my style with you. And part of that fun is working with my baby sister, spending time with her, and most importantly, goofing around.

I want to share more of that side with you as well! Here are some pictures (and even an outfit!) that never made the blog ;)

taste of autumn

What with Sandy and then the nor'easter, fall just came and went by too fast. I was able to get in this outfit  on a beautiful sunny day right after the nor'easter hit (temperature wise, it was pretty cold!). On a side note, I'm actually obsessed with these pants; they're the perfect fall color!

concrete jungle

Because it's getting a bit chilly here (meaning 40-something degrees!), layering is my best friend! I'm obsessed with leather and black in the winter, so it's very common to see me around school in some kind of variation of this outfit.

fall transition

Now that fall is creeping up on us on the east coast, I have to think of ways to transition my summer pieces into the fall. Anyone recognize this maxi from my maximal comfort post? Or the top from my summer brights post? It's all about recycling!

neutrals

With thousands of students on campus, you never know who you're going to meet, which is why I always aim to dress to impress! This outfit is super simple, but like I've said in posts before, the details take it to the level of a well-dressed student. The gold buttons allow for little-to-no accessories, the tucked in shirt keeps the look tailored, and the length of the shorts allow me to wear wedges without feeling self-conscious. Kept it clean and simple!

summer's end

It truly is the last few days of summer on the east coast, so I had to take advantage of the sunny days. It has already started to rain! Granted, it was more sprinkling than raining ... but nevertheless, fall is coming! So while I can soak up the rays, I've been working on wearing more colors before I start diving into my fall wardrobe.

back to school fashion

As you all know by my update post below, school is back in session! I know some of you have already started school so I hope that it was as great as my first day of school, and if it wasn't, it can only get better! As girls, we all want to dress to impress, right? So here's my opinion about what to wear on the first day of school.

criss-cross

I wasn't drawn to this dress because the print was a bit too much for me, but once I saw the back of the dress, I had to buy it! I'm a huge fan of showing some back, so buying this dress was a no-brainer for me.

not your everyday shorts

For this outfit, I wanted to play up these beautiful high-waisted shorts so I downplayed everything else in the outfit, from the simple white tank to the everyday summer sandal. These shorts also have a lot of volume so I knew I wanted something tight on the top - remember, opposites attract!

fashion on the go: packing tips

I know us over-packers struggle with what's happening in the picture to the left. My mom always tells me to just figure out what I'm going to wear everyday on the trip and strategize ... but to be honest, I'm going to wear what I feel like wearing on that day! To me, it's not about planning ahead. It's about packing smart.

It's safe to say that that I've travelled a lot because my home's in California, and I go to college in New York. I used to love packing because that meant I was going somewhere away from home, whether that be an adventure or vacation. Ever since I started travelling back and forth from home to school and vice versa, packing has become a chore...but I have definitely improved on my packing skills! (Fun fact: I'm actually packing right now! I'm leaving for the east coast in a couple of hours.)

Read more for some tips and tricks on how to save space, pack neatly, and stay organized.

details, details ...

I love any opportunity that allows me to dress up! Granted, I dress up everyday (or try to, I get lazy like any other person), but there's just something about a night out! It's the details that truly make this outfit. There's metal, leather, and sparkle - a little bit of everything! That's exactly what takes a monochromatic outfit to the next level.

fashion for less: student discounts

Don't you love it when your favorite stores have a big sale? Would you love it even more if these same stores had a year-long sale? For a shopaholic like me, this could be borderline dangerous, but a discount is a discount!

Who knew that just showing your college ID would save money? Okay, well some people knew but I didn't really realize the power of plastic - and by plastic, I mean your ID not your credit card! Read more to find out which ten stores take pity on us poor students!
